Maa Bamleshwari Temple

Maa Bamleshwari Temple is a holy place of Hindus. It is located at the hilltop which is 1600 feet high in the Dongargarh town of Chhattisgarh. It is worshipped and visited in the honour of Maa Bagulamukhi Devi i.e. the mighty appearance of goddess Durga. Another name of the temple is Badi Bamleshwari. The ground level of the temple is occupied by another shrine named as Chotti Bamleshwari which is ½ km away from the sanctum. Due to true devotion and faith of devotees towards goddess, devotees can cross the way of 1100 stair in an easy and convenient way. The other reason of crossing the long route easily is its sacred and natural environment consisting of ponds and mountain. It is believed that this temple has gained its solid structure before 2200 years by Raja Veersen for the purpose of pacifying the gods for his true successor.

Getting There

One can reach this shrine by mean of three modes: bus, rail and air. The bus network is extended from Rajnandgaon and Durg to this shrine. The major railway stations are Bilaspur and Raipur which is connected to many other cities. The journey through air can be carried out by Raipur Airport and Aka Mana Airport.

Security And Some Tips

For the purpose of security the police of Chhattisgarh check the papers of the vehicle and ask for PUC if not available then they charge the fine of Rs 500. Yatri should not carry cash and ornaments with them. They should keep their luggage at safe and secure place.

When To Visit

The best time to visit this temple is during the festival of Navratris of Kavar(Dusshera) and Chaitra (Ramnavami). Its timings are: 4.00 AM to 12.00 PM on weekdays and 5.00 AM to 10.00 PM on weekends.

What To See And Do

The shrine is made up of marble and its GUMBAD is made up of 1kg gold by which it gained a splendid look. To reach the shrine yatri has to cross 1100 stairs and for this there are two ways: ropeway and foot. After reaching the shrine yatri finds entrance gate which is silver coated and after entering into the shrine there is the deity which is made up of stone dipped into the orange colour. The head of the mata is covered with the mukut made up of gold. The deity is adorned with colourful poshak and many ornaments. The back of the deity is occupied by morepankh. The deity is placed in the small sanctum made up of golden pillars. Every Sunday at 10 am to 12 noon a hawan takes place for getting internal energy and power.

Where To Stay

There are two dharamshalas managed by the Temple Trust so as to provide stay to devotees. These daramshalas are: Maa Bamleshwari Dharamshala and Chhirpaani Dharamshala. The allotment of accommodation is on the behalf of first come first serve. The money spends for managing these dharamshalas is endured by the trust.

The festivals are celebrated at this temple with great joy and entertainment. During the festival of Navratris of Kavar (Dusshera) and Chaitra (Ramnavami) a large crowd of people are flocked towards this temple.

Travel Tips

Yatris should take video camera with them so as to trap each and every moment of the trip. Yatris should also take a personal diary for having the written record of the whole visit along with the feelings and emotions at that time. They should also hire a tourist guide who gives the complete knowledge of the temple including its history. They should also take first aid so as to cure frequent injury.

Same is the case of this temple whose deity’s darshan can be achieved by crossing tough and long route which is only through true faith and devotion of the devotees.
