History of the above occasion
The puja begins with the birth of Lord Rama to the emperor Dasharatha of Ayodhya and his wife Kaushalya. He had two more wives Sumitra and Kaikeyi.Lord Rama was born by his ownpower and will and provide protection to all his devotees by vanquishing Adharma. He is called as MaryadaPurushottam and Lord Vishnu incarnate him for killing and ending asuras. So, his birth is considered as important and thus people start celebrating this puja from here.

Procession of Idols of gods also takes place in evening.In Ayodhya, on this day Rathayatras called as ShobhaYatra of Lord Rama also takes out at several places and large no .of people take dip in the river, named as Sarayu.On this day, Ramayana is read by people at temple and vedic temples are decorated. In Bhadrachalam temple situated at Telangana, Kalyanam is performed.
